Bringing Baby Home is a two-day workshop for parents wanting the best for their family from the start. It is ideal to participate when pregnant and awaiting birth. However, the information will enhance all relationships at any stage of family life.

The results of the evidence-based research from those who participated in the course include:
- Fewer mothers and fathers showed signs of Post Natal depression (22.5% in comparison to 66.5% in the comparison group)
- Greater sensitivity and responsiveness to their infant’s signals – particularly for fathers
- Babies expressed more smiling and laughter during family play
- Positive father-infant attachment security – babies responded more positively to father’s soothing
- Fathers more involved in parenting and felt more satisfied and appreciated for their parental contributions
- Less language delays in one year olds
- Less distress in response to limitations eg reaching for a toy
- Couples experienced less conflict and hostility and a higher stable relationship quality. Those who did not complete course, had decline in relationship
This is a workshop for new parents experiencing the transition to parenthood. It was developed by Dr John Gottman, PhD (Emeritus Professor of Psychology at the University Of Washington, Seattle and one of the world’s leading research scientists on marriage, relationships and family) and Dr Julie Schwartz Gottman PhD (world renowned relationship expert and winner of the Distinguished Psychologist of the Year Award 2002) together with staff from the Relationship Research Institute.
The course takes a couple through the ‘Sound Relationship House’ theory and provides education and skills in developing ongoing support for each other as they transition to parenthood. The benefits to both parents and child are remarkable.
